The plan

The geological resource identified in Cornwall is likely to exhibit all the characteristics to allow the application of EGS techniques.  The relatively small amount of water required to set up the reservoir is also present in sufficient quantity in the area.

In order to determine the area where the initial EGS Plant will be established, EGS Energy has undertaken an analysis of geological data to select sites and to develop plans for geothermal reservoirs.  As a result, EGS Energy has chosen to work firstly with The Eden Project, to provide advice in establishing the Eden EGS Plant.  You will find more detail on the progress being made here.

The lessons learned in Cornwall - at The Eden Project and with our partners for further plants elsewhere in the County - will enable EGS Energy to work with developers in other European countries to spread the knowledge and application of EGS.
